This week sees the beginning of four new projects and some additional concept design work for inner city housing. The basis of the inner city housing infill stems from one of our upside down courtyard houses on a very restricted plot.
The upside down house illustrated was completed several years ago now but still carries weight in its approach to restrictions of overlooking, privacy and sunshine. The site was a backland garage plot to a large house and with our many years of London plot sizes with the added issues of party walls, window positions and accessibility we managed to turn a severely restricted site ( resisted by planning and conservation officers ) into a marvellous opportunity to create a unique solution. Out of the design process came a two bedroom town house with integral garage and a full open plan first floor living space overlooking a totally private heated courtyard.
